Replace one scene and keep the footage that works

Use focused scene replacement, trims, captions and sound adjustments while preserving the original and reviewing a separate export.

The opening of a video feels hesitant, but the product demonstration is clear. Starting the whole video again would throw away footage you want to keep. First decide whether the problem needs an edit to the existing clip or a genuinely new performance.

Personify's completed-video controls separate scene replacement from finishing. You can work on one task, preview the result and choose whether to use that version.

Describe the smallest useful change

For an illustrative desk-lamp video, suppose the opening contains an unnecessary pause before the first sentence. A trim may be enough. If the sentence itself makes the wrong claim, cutting silence will not correct it.

Likewise, a caption that says “adjustable brightness” cannot repair audio that says “automatic brightness.” Check the spoken words as well as the text before choosing an edit.

Open the completed video and choose Replace scene or Finishing. Select the scene you want to change, then use the relevant controls rather than changing every part of the reel.

Replace the footage or prepare a new take

A replacement can come from approved saved media or footage you upload and review. Check the excerpt and framing so the new clip fits what the viewer hears.

If the scene needs a new performance, Generate a replacement take prepares a separate brief for that scene. Review its script, references and generation price. The other scenes keep their selected footage; requesting a new take is still a generation approval.

This approach is useful when the demonstration already communicates the product well and the introduction needs a different explanation. It does not promise that every new performance will match the previous one perfectly. Review the join, lighting and delivery in the finished result.

Finish the selected version

Use trims to remove material that does not help the story. Adjust dialogue and background sound so the explanation remains audible. Review captions and any logo or text overlay in the actual frame, especially on a phone.

Captions belonging to retained footage follow supported timing edits. Replaced speech needs a fresh caption check. Do not keep words from the old scene merely because their timing still fits.

Optional edit chat can propose changes to the same draft. Inspect the suggestion before applying it; a request in chat is not a finished export.

Preview before choosing

Preview changes creates a separate output. Watch it from beginning to end before selecting Use this version. Selecting an edit requires a fresh final review; earlier versions and the clean original remain available.

Keep the decision specific: “use the shorter opening and retain the demonstration” is easier to assess than “make the whole video more engaging.” The aim is to fix the part that fails while keeping the footage that already does its job.

Put the brief to work.
